About a year ago, I bought an unnecessary hedge-trimmer. My neighbour, who always kept the hedge between our fronts trimmed, was moving.
As it happened, the new neighbour was well-equipped and happy to do my side.
So recently I wondered what my hedge-trimmer would do to the jungle out there. The answer was pleasing. I managed to cut back the growth alongside my garage, and some of the jungle in the corner, up to the two troughs standing there.
On Monday, I was visited by my brother, who I know was itching to help clean up my garden for me. We had a very nice lunch out, then he went to his car and came back with a trug containing gloves and secateurs.
I can claim only a little credit for what resulted – it was almost all him.
Yes, it needs more tidying up, but just look at the mass of growth he removed. I’d already half filled my green bin; he finished it off, then filled these two troughs!
The green bin was emptied this morning, so my job today is to see how much of that I can cram into it again. Then continue with the tidy-up, which looks a lot more achievable thanks to his help!
