A simple ketchup-based BBQ sauce made from pantry ingredients. Good for ribs, sausages and brisket.
I don’t add heat to this myself, but cayenne or chilli powder can be added if required.
The “no-cook” is a bit of a misnomer – the sauce needs no cooking in its preparation, but should be applied to meat in the late stages of grilling. 20-30 minutes in a grill should be sufficient to bring the flavours together, but it can withstand longer cooking at a low heat.
No-Cook Simple BBQ Sauce
Ingredients
- 1 cup soft brown sugar
- 1 cup tomato ketchup
- 1/2 cup cider vinegar
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 tbsp worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tbsp mustard powder
- salt, pepper, paprika, to taste
- cayenne pepper and/or chilli powder, to taste. (optional)
Instructions
- Combine ingredients and blend. Rest in refrigerator for 1-2 hours before using.
